Meet the Staff

Matthew McLean PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Owner of Trailhead Physical Therapy

I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota. I moved to Colorado following graduation and  managed an outpatient physical therapy clinic in Littleton for 6 years prior to opening Trailhead Physical Therapy. I enjoy working with sports injuries and rehabilitation as well as correction of dysfunctional movement. I am certified with the Titleist Performance Institute for Golf Performance and enjoy working with golfers to improve their game and allow them to play pain-free golf. I also utilize the Selective Functional Movement Assessment to correct dysfunctional and painful movements with all of my clients. I have my certification in Trigger Point Dry Needling and utilize that technique for pain relief, injury rehabilitation, and to improve soft tissue mobility. I enjoy all the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer and life at home with my wife and 2 daughters.

Steph Brunner PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Wingate University in North Carolina after majoring in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University. I love working with athletes and active adults across the lifespan, and I have a special interest in working with concussions, chronic pain, youth athletes, runners, and gymnasts & dancers. I am dry needling certified and have taken continuing education courses on concussion management, postpartum return to sport, dance rehab, and blood flow restriction training. I think that everyone deserves the movement freedom to be able to do all the activities that are important to them without restrictions, and love getting to be part of their journey to achieve that!

I grew up playing softball, running track, and doing gymnastics, and have started dancing again as an adult. Outside the clinic you’ll find me running, hiking, snowboarding, or hanging out with my husband and 2 dogs!

Doctor of Physical Therapy

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Originally from Pennsylvania, I completed my B.S. in Biology at the University of Pittsburgh and my M.S. in Kinesiology/Integrative Exercise Physiology from Temple University in Philadelphia. While in Philadelphia, I had the privilege of working with NCAA Division I and III athletic programs in Strength and Conditioning, where I gained valuable experience in movement analysis, exercise prescription, and enhancing athletic performance.

I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, passionate about helping both recreational and competitive athletes bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance. My goal is to improve their abilities, ensure they move well and pain-free, and help them return to the activities they love. Additionally, I hold a Level 2 certification in Trigger Point Dry Needling, which I use in combination with advanced manual therapy and corrective exercise techniques to rehabilitate orthopedic injuries, manage pain, and restore functional mobility.

Outside of work, I love exploring the Colorado mountains, whether it’s skiing down powdery runs or summiting 14ers. A true enthusiast of movement, I actively engage in various strength and conditioning disciplines, including powerlifting, aerobic endurance, high-intensity interval training, and functional resistance training.
